What people are saying about Borghese Gardens

Guide had a love of of the history of Rome and the gardens we toured

We arrived late but everyone was understanding. Helmets were provided. Bikes were not top of the line but fine. The historcal knowledge of our guide was very impressive and he did a great job of adjusting to our 3 childrens levels of understanding. Most of the tour was in the gardens however the minimal amount of street riding gave us bragging rights to cliam we went biking in the city of Rome! Doing tours like this is a great way to keep the kids having fun while gaining knowledge of history and appreciation of another culture. Water was provided and a great cafe right next door made it possible to refuel after the ride. I'd love to do a longer tour of the city streets early morning when traffic is light. Guide and shopworkers spoke perfect English. Great website mades booking reservation before you leave for your trip to Rome easy. Rome would be a better place to visit and live if all the tourists used bikes and not buses. Support bike tours in Rome by taking this fabulous tour.

Further enriched the amazing experience of seeing the artwork

First: this was not 3 hours! It should probably not be advertised as such; it was maybe 2.5 at the very, very most. My tour guide, Luca (sp?) was great. He was funny, knowledgeable, and moved at a pleasant place. We never spent too much time discussing the history and context of an artwork, which was much appreciated given that you are limited to a 2 hour visit within the gallery. Having someone explain the history behind the pieces really added to the experience, and was much better than just viewing beautiful statutes on my own. Our guide was careful to point out the most remarkable details on the Bernini pieces, the hidden symbolism in the Carravaggios, the mystery and the historical significance of the Borghese's villa, and more.

Different perspective when illuminated at night

A number of reviewers seem to have been disappointed that this wasn't on open top bus but our coach was excellent in trems of comfort, viewing, cleanliness, driver safety and guide knowledge. The time of year wouldn't have suited an open aspect either. The tour took in all of the major sights at night that will have probably been visited during the day. It was lovely to see the different perspective from the coloured lighting. A few stop offs were provided but not at every significant landmark and these seemed a little rushed for the sake of an extra 10 mins at each location. Very relaxing tour after a hectic day on your feet.

A lot of art in one place, many pieces have stories behind them.

The gallery isn't just like any other attraction in Rome where you can just walk in and line up for tickets. But when you do get in, it's definitely worth it. You might end up a little overwhelmed by the sculptures and paintings especially if you are not familiar with the artists who did them as well as the story behind the villa itself; a little research can make things even more interesting.

Mateo was an excellent guide. He was brilliant and kind.

The art was remarkable and the grounds interesting. A bit of a long walk and then your on your own for getting back or onward luckily Rome has many taxi' s & buses so it's navigable. The morning tour was airy but the next showing had a line forever. Best to go early.
