What people are saying about Borghese Gallery
Lorenzo our guide kept us engaged the entire time with his flair and knowledge. The tour gave us the highlights which were quite amazing. It would have been impossible to grasp the wealth of history and detail in the Borghese Gallery without Lorenzo. The Gardens tour included was a very good way to continue on from the Gallery. Their is a lot of information to be had on the Gardens as well. We definitely appreciated our good fortune to be on personal tour with Lorenzo.
For this tour the partner tour company we were given was Love Rome. The specific guide was Frederico who was excellent and told the story of the Borgehese family and also each piece of art. With only two hours there was enough time to discuss each masterpiece. With our guide I could have spent another hour listening to stories and background of each masterpiece in the gallery.
We thoroughly enjoyed our personal guided tour of Galleria Borghese. As an option you can enjoy the gallery as a self guided tour, however, our personal guide, Elizabeth, not only provided historical detail but also explained from her personal knowledge (she’s born and raised in Rome) and her academic background in archeology. Highly recommended!!
We are American expats who live in central Italy but we had never visited the Gallery until now. Too bad for us. We've seen a lot of beautiful things in Italy, but the Villa di Borghese was a huge surprise. If you're planning on a visit, I highly recommend taking a guided tour (about 2 hours) and well worth the cost. We can't wait to go back.
Our tour guide Federico shared his knowledge of this impressive collection in a most interesting manner. His insights of the time period were very helpful in gaining an understanding of all the history, with a focus on the sculptor Bernini.
