Meet at the entrance of the modernistic new Library of Birmingham in Centenary Square. The walking tour uses key features in the Square, including the public artworks, to help tell the story of this forward-looking city.

Discover the canals of the city, and learn of their importance in Georgian and Victorian life. Explore the Gas Street Basin, where you will experience the atmospheric heart of the English canal system, with ample opportunities for photos.

Learn more about famous industrialists such as Boulton, Watt and Murdoch. In particular, hear about their role in revolutionising coinage from the 1780s and is indicative of how important Birmingham was as a centre of the Industrial Revolution. See the site of the Cadbury's chocolate factory before it moved to Bourneville. Understand how Cadbury's grew into a hugely successful business, with industrial processes, and key elements such as marketing and transportation aiding successful growth.

Along the Walk of Stars, by the Black Sabbath seat on Broad Street, see the many and varied contributions Birmingham has made to popular culture. From the hugely successful Peaky Blinders television series, heavy metal, to The Archers, the world's longest-running radio "soap."
