Full description
As the capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing has been a historic center of power, culture and wealth for centuries. On this 8-hour tour you will visit some of the essential places in the city.

In the morning you will take in Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City to tour the grounds and take pictures of the array of halls and monuments. Known as the “Gate of Heavenly Peace,” Tiananmen Square forms one of the gateways to the Forbidden City and is the largest urban square in the world.

Gasp in awe at its formidable size, soak up the history and see major buildings such as the Great Hall of the People and Mao Zedong Memorial. Moving to the vast Forbidden City, now open to the public, you will wander around a dramatic complex of Qing and Ming dynasty palaces and see the world’s largest collection of wooden structures.

Lunch will be in the famous Longdi Jade Factory. Besides enjoying the delicious food, you will get a chance to appreciate the very special Chinese stone, which was used for the 2008 Beijing Olympic medals.

In the afternoon, you will travel to the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China, one of the best-preserved sections of this 2,000-year-old architectural masterpiece. You will climb the wall to take in panoramic views from the top before returning to the city for a drop-off at your hotel.

very good tour which serves as a nice introduction into Chinese culture

Nice guide - but too much sales event :-(

The Great Wall of China is an absolute must! The tour bus we went in was Chinese but good. Our tour guide was cheerful and personable. Unfortunately we had little time in the Forbidden City and was literally rushed through. For this we had to visit a silk factory and a jade factory with sales rooms - unfortunately we spent a lot of time there! The timing of these two sales events was far too high. Lunch took place in the Jademanufaktur - it tastes bland and the place looked neglected, not nice. One was cleared, together with other tour groups, which are picked up every minute.
