What people are saying about Beaune
The experience of a lifetime that will never be forgotten!
This wine tour was an absolute delight! My wife and I love wine from Burgundy, so the opportunity to tour and taste was something we couldn't miss. Our guide, Antonin, was absolutely phenomenal! His knowledge of wine and of Burgundy in particular is extremely nuanced - he explained to us how the region is organized, how to interpret Burgundy wine labels, highlighted major differences between vineyards/villages in terms of wine taste/terroir, and much more. During the tastings with Antonin, discussing the nose, bouquet, and the wine's development was so much fun - I still remember nailing down descriptions of particular notes we were all picking up, sharing stories, and having lots of laughs. My wife and I both felt as though all three of us had been friends for a long time even though we had just met. The tours themselves were beautiful and fascinating - the guides were very kind! The tastings were very generous - we must have tasted 20 wines, ranging from villages to grand cru!
Wonderful Tour and Wine Tasting of Burgandy
Despite a minor hiccup with our meeting point (apparently there are 2 Tourist Offices in Baune) our guide took the time to locate us and picked us up in a comfortable Mercedes van for our tour. There were a total of four of us on the tour, my wife and I and another couple so a nice small group. Our guide was Sonia who was an amazing host. While touring the Cote du Beaune and Cote du Nuit regions she educated us on the what makes Burgandy wines special such as the importance of terrior, climate and the appellation. We toured and viewed the finest vinyards in the region and also in the world. We stopped for 2 extensive tastings one in the late AM and one in the PM with lunch and a tour of Clos de Vougeot in between. During the tastings Sonia showed us the proper techniques to evaluate wines examining color, aromas, and flavours. You have the chance to purchase wines at both tastings. I would definately recommend this tour and guide, it was a great and memorable experience.
We were picked up at 9:30 as scheduled in front of the tourist office. It happened that nobody else other than my wife and I had booked this tour. Ava, our tour guide was excellent. She has tons of wine knowledge and did not hesitate sharing that with us. We visited a couple of wine makers and walked the famous vineyards. She suggested a lunch place that was very good for the hour we were not together in the center of Beaune. I bought some wine to be shipped - although I have not heard from the shipping company that was supposed to contact me yet! The most important factor is wine selection in Burgundy is “the map”! Have the map of vineyards handy when selecting your Pino. Unlike Napa that is equipped with irrigation system Burgundy relies exclusively on natural climate conditions. Check your years yo make sure too much rain did not make it a bad year!
Excellent, once in a lifetime experience!
We so enjoyed our full day wine tour of the Burgundy! Our guide, Ava, was so knowledgeable and friendly, it was so refreshing to be educated and guided by someone who clearly loves her job. We loved how the day was sculpted: visits to legendary vineyards, tastings, castles, etc - it was just right! I will be recommending this tour to friends and hope to book it in the future when I return with a tour group.
Ricky was an excellent guide, wealth of knowledge about area and local wine production. Meal at local restaurant was excellent. 2 wineries we did tastings at were great representation of the area. My only concern is the description of the bike riding. There were some pretty steep hills in the beginning. Great day all around.
