Molfetta: Private Artwork on the Sea Tour
- Discover the seaside town of Molfetta and its enchanting historic center
- Visit the church of San Corrado
- Explore the cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta
The tour will then continue through the historic center with a visit to the 17th-century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. It became a cathedral in 1785, since the Cathedral of San Corrado became inadequate to the needs of worship of the increased population. Within it are the preserved remains of the patron saint Conrad of Bavaria.
Portrayed in the interior of the church is a Latin cross, with a barrel vaulted ceiling that was frescoed in 1887 by the Molfolini painter Michele Romano.
A short distance between the alleys of the historic center, you will reach the tower of Passari, initially a gunboat which later became a lookout tower. The tower is majestic and compact, and at the base, the walls are massive and reach a thickness of 5 meters that gradually decreases up to the cord. From here you can climb up to the summit, from which you can admire a spectacular 360-degree view. In the center there are three gunboats, which are arranged in the three directions of the horizon.
