Full description
Located in a space designed by architect Puig i Cadafalch, the Montserrat Museum (MDM) boasts one of the most important art collections in Catalonia. It includes works by Caravaggio, El Greco, Rusiñol, Casas, Picasso, Dalí, and Monet, and features a significant collection of artifacts from the ancient world including archaeological finds from the Middle East.

The new Montserrat audiovisual show, in a completely revamped space, showcases what Montserrat is all about and what it means. The exhibition revolves around three main elements: the mountain, the monastery, and the sanctuary. If you have selected the option with lunch, you will have a delicious lunch featuring typical Catalan dishes included. After, everyone can enjoy a tasting of Montserrat spirits at the shop.

The Basilica is also home to the image of the Virgin of Montserrat, a Romanesque sculpture dating from the late 12th century featuring delicately carved features. Apart from the liturgical events that take place every day, visitors can enjoy the Escolania boys' choir, one of the oldest music schools in Europe.

It was a great day out it was a beautiful place With lovely views. the food from the buffet that was included was very nice lots of choice . The only down fall was that there was a strike on the mountain trains. Last train running was 2.15. So we had to pay out more money to get the cable car back down which ended up quite costly with 4 of us.

The trip was our replacement that GetYourGuide spontaneously booked us cheaper because our actual organizer canceled at short notice. In retrospect, we were very happy because we had more time thanks to the train journey. The view from the mountain top is great, but the way there is nothing for every narrow path steep climbs ect. But it's worth it! (Unfortunately, the ticket does not include the train ride up to the top, which costs € 13.50 for up and down). The buffet is actually more of a menu, you can choose a main course with a side dish as well as a side dish, desert and drink. All in all, it was a nice day-filling excursion. I only have one real criticism point. At the info we were told that we should take the train at 6:15 pm because the last ones are canceled due to New Year's Eve. 17:50 we wanted to hand over the audio guides and there was no one left, although nowhere was it that they would close so early.
