Full description
Learn about the construction of the Burma Railway, also known as the “Death Railway,” on this 10-hour historical tour to Kanchanaburi, approximately 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of Bangkok.

Upon arrival, you will tour the well-kept War Cemetery, where the graves of an estimated 9,000 Allied soldiers are tended. They perished while constructing the notorious "Death Railway,” which the Japanese had hoped would stretch all the way to the Burmese border.

Uncover the terrible history of the railway at the JEATH Museum, which takes its name from the first letters of the words Japan, England, America/Australia, Thailand and Holland. See the past recreated and relived with pictures and artefacts.

The van team were excellent, kept us informed on where we were going, what we would see and timings to expect. Knew all the info at the various sites we visited and treated us as friends. Although the Kwai Bridge is very commercial, there was no pestering from sellers. Would heavily recommend but watch it is a long journey there and back from Bangkok

The tour itself was really good and my husband and I really enjoyed the day. Our tour guide was excellent and really knew his stuff. Our driver although not very talkative, but boy did he know how to navigate the very busy Bangkok traffic; he really did deserve a medal and a very large tip! My only gripe is that the van (although it did have air con) was not very comfortable and we had too many people crammed on board. The journey was long so comfort was a bit of an issue. We were very happy to get off the van at the end of the day. with hindsight I would have preferred it if I had booked the private tour, but you get what

A great tour with lots to see and a very knowledgable tour leader (I think her name was Nine). However, please understand that the 'optional extras' are not optional at all and so budget to spend the extra 500baht on both the speed boat and train ticket upgrade, as you will be told you 'must must must' which is near impossible to get out of. Not really an issue as it did enhance the day, but something to consider when booking.
