Full description
Experience Bali from the top of its most famous mountain on a private overnight camping adventure at Mt. Batur. Towering 1,717 meters above sea level, the volcanic mountain is the 2nd highest point on the island. Get the most out of the experience with mountain hikes, and spend the night under a canopy of stars at the summit.

Day 1:
Depart in the afternoon at approximately 12:30 PM, and journey to the village of Toya Bungkah on Mt. Batur. Hike for approximately 2 hours, depending on the number of hikers and their physical condition. Then, set up your tents when you reach an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. At approximately 18:00, hike for about 14 to 20 minutes to the summit of Mt. Batur, and watch a majestic sunset at the top of the volcano. Enjoy a simple meal (typically banana cooked using the steam of the volcano) along with hot Balinese coffee and tea. Then, return to camp to cook dinner and make a campfire to sit around and try some of the local Arak Bali and Brem wines. Toast the end of the day and make a wish for clear skies to see the moon and the stars and enjoy a magnificent sunrise the following day.

Day 2:
Wake early to watch the sunrise from the mountain. Pack up all your camping gear before the early morning tourists arrive. A porter will be on hand to take care of the equipment while you watch the beautiful colors of purple, orange, pink and red appear in the sky. Marvel as the sky changes from black to blue while the clouds dissipate and re-form due to temperature changes caused by the rising sun. Get panoramic views of the ocean in the distance as the day begins. On a clear day you can easily see Mt. Rinjani on the neighboring island of Lombok. Then, hike to the 3 main craters of the volcano and see some of the recent black lava flow. End at the natural hot springs of Batur, where you can relax and recharge your mind with the help of Mother Nature.

Amazing experience. A truly personal level of service, making sure we always had what we needed allowing us to really enjoy the hike. The views from the mountain are spectacular and the whole setup was so well run. No issues whatsoever with recommending this company as a wonderful example of how tours should be run.

It was a very expensive tour and I would have expected a few things to have been better. On the plus side my guide was wonderful, and the pre organisation was great. Also, the starting place, Black Lava, was good. However, the situation at the top for me was fairly poor. The booking said that I'd be provided with a jacket. This was not the case and it was cold up there on the mountain in the mist! When it came to bed time, it was a somewhat sad story. I am able to sleep on the ground easily; others may not be so fortunate. The sleeping bag was woefully thin & in the night I had to go searching the mats that go over the seats outside to add to my covers. Plus it didn't smell at all clean .. and the pillow tiny. It was a rough night! Plus, the space could do with an 'artistic eye'. Maybe a candle? etc The food was very average, and I can imagine that giving white people on mass boiled eggs on white bread the easies thing. I looked with envy at the noodle dishes the guides were eating!

An amazing experience that is a must for Bali travellers

Fantastic experience. We started with a very comfortable transfer from our villa in Uluwatu. Our guide Wi on arrival was amazing and gave us the best experience walking up Mount Batur and stayed with us overnight. He gave us great local knowledge, was considerate and very professional. We really enjoyed his company and invited him to sit and eat/drink with us to keep chatting, he commented how he was honoured to do this and I know he would have kept his distance if you prefer. The walk was strenuous but he gave us a challenge (thinking ourselves as pretty fit) and we pushed it to the top. The sunset was cloudy for us but views were still beautiful and the sunset in the morning was breathtaking!! Our tent was set up for us and the food was delicious and hot. We recommend that you wear good gripped shoes maybe shorts and T-shirt to walk up in with a change of clothes with warm layers in the evening. Take minimal stuff tho as you will be carrying it up. Great experience thank you Wi & co.
