Full description
Discover the top sites in Provence in a single day on Le Grand Tour.

Begin with a stop in Orange, founded by the Romans in the 1st century B.C. You’ll see its well-preserved Triumphal Arch and Ancient Theater.

The Triumphal Arch features carvings dedicated to the glory of the Roman Empire under the emperor Augustus. Visit the Ancient Theater, which ranks among the best-preserved theaters of the Roman period, and is still used for important events.

Travel through the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape, which produce some of the world’s finest wines. After stopping at a castle that served as a summer residence for the popes, you’ll visit a winery to taste 2 local wines. Learn about the region, the grape varieties, and the wine-making process.

See the Pont du Gard, the best-preserved part of a Roman aqueduct built in the 1st century A.D. to supply the ancient city of Nimes with water.

The village of Les Baux de Provence stands high in the Alpilles Mountains. From this fortified village you’ll have amazing views down into the valley with its thousands of olive trees.

Continue the drive through the stunning landscape of Provence that features vineyards, fruit trees, and sunflowers and lavender in the summertime. Soon you’ll be at the foot of the Luberon, which is best known for its beautiful villages.

See the village of Gordes, built entirely from dry stones, standing like a sentinel over the valley. Explore the village of Roussillon, featuring colorful houses and walls, painted using the natural pigments found in the ocher cliffs surrounding the site.

Great way to see a lot in a day.

It was a great way to see a lot in a day! It was a sprint, but did cover a ton. It really was more of a driver-led day than a guided activity. That was okay with me as the wine tour was hosted by a very knowledgeable wine maker and the audio-guide at the Roman ruins was very detailed.

Perfect service as much as wonderful view

Theres nothing to say about the sights and views. It was awesome and perfectly enough to impress someone. Historical arch of Orange was a good point to begining of journey and panoramic view of old theatre was very impressive. All of the villages of provence we visited was amazing. Guide Emmanuel was very very kind. He also speaks english very well so you dont need to worry about information of sights.

Historical sites and winery

This tour is about all the historical heritage and scenic sites around Avignon including a visit to a local winery, very condensed and fulfilling. The only thing missed was the lavender, but we couldn't imagine how that could be added to this already fully packed and rich tour. Our guide Julian was very friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable.
