Full description
On this small group tour of Athens, explore the city's history and visit its most famous monuments and buildings. Begin at the House of the Greek Parliament and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and watch the changing of the guards. Next, continue past the National Garden, St. Paul’s Church, Schlieman’s House (Nomismatic Museum), the University of Athens, the National Library, Old Parliament, and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Afterwards, stop by Panathinaiko Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. Pass by the Zappion (Conference and Exhibition Hall), the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Hadrian’s Arc.

Continue with a pleasant short walk toward the new Acropolis museum. Next, make your way up to the Acropolis from the south slope so as to avoid the crowds and to visit the Dionysus Sanctuary and Theater built in the 5th century BC. Your guide will give you a detailed explanation of the glorious monuments of the Acropolis such as the Parthenon, the Erectheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple, and the surrounding monuments such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

After the Acropolis you will pass by Mars and Pnyx Hill and enter the Ancient Agora where you will see The Attalos Gallery and finally the Temple of Hephaestus.
