Full description
Travel from Athens to mystical Delphi and to the cliff-top monasteries of Meteora on this 2-day tour that’s priced for a group of up to 8 people.
Day 1: Athens, Livadeia, Arachova, Delphi, Meteora
The tour begins with a pick-up in Athens and a drive that passes by Livadeia and Thebes on the way to the picturesque village of Arachova. Take in breathtaking mountain landscapes en route.
Continue on the drive to Delphi, where you'll visit the archaeological sites and ancient theater. You’ll also see the Oracle of Apollo, the Omfalos, the Temple of Athena Pronaia and the Kastaleia Spring.
Stop for lunch to enjoy Greek cuisine at a traditional restaurant or tavern overlooking the mountains of Parnassus and Itea. After lunch you’ll continue on to Meteora, where you’ll have some leisure time before heading to your overnight accommodation in either Kalambaka or Kastraki.
Day 2: Meteora, Thermopylae, Athens
After breakfast, you’ll visit the monasteries of Meteora, built on high natural pillars at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly, near the Pineios River and Pindus Mountains. Monks and nuns still live in the monasteries to this day.
After admiring the spectacular panoramic views, you’ll have a break for lunch.
The next stop on the tour is at the Battlefield of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and 300 brave Spartans gave their lives for the freedom of Greece. Honor and Glory was their motto and they achieved both, as the memory of their heroism endures.
Following the Thermopylae visit, you will be transferred back to Athens.
