Full description
As you leave Athens behind, you will cross mainland Greece and make a short stop at the picturesque village of Arachova before heading straight to Delphi. Delphi is one of the most sacred sites in Greece, and was also a cultural and religious center of Ancient times.

The Sanctuary of Delphi dates back to the 4th century B.C., and it is here where Pythia, the priestess who served as the Oracle, was credited for prophecies inspired by the spirit of the god Apollo. She was, without a doubt, the most powerful woman of the classical world.

You can visit the Temple of Apollo and the Castalian Spring before following the sacred way to the Athenian Treasury. At the end of your, you will have the chance to transform into a Greek warrior or goddess, and take a photo to share. Finally, you will depart from Delphi, stopping at Chaeronea, the land of Plutarch on the way. At the entrance of the village you will get to experience a a 6-meter tall marble statue of the Lion of Chaeronea, before returning to Athens.

The archaeological site in Delfi is stunning. Worth a visit. But since we were the only people in the group, the driver didn’t provide any information they was helpful. Also, the signboards to the Temple of Athena that’s close by, aren’t visible at all. And we couldn’t locate it. The car provided wasn’t 100% comfortable. Found it extremely difficult to stretch our legs in the rear seats.

A long day but so much to see

Delphi is wonderful - takes a while to see all of the locations and absorb it. Sadly, the Stadium was closed - apparently die to chance of landslide and is probably common in winter. We were not warned about this in advance. Arachova was a delight too and I'd have like more time to explore there. My suggestion for improvement would be an earlier start and the site before the museum. That means softer light for photos (rather than middle of day light) and cooler in summer. And a bit longer in Archive with tips on what to see. There's a church at the top and a tower, both with views and I didn't know about them until too late.
