Full description
Your 8-hour excursion begins with a drive to Palmela, a town known for its panoramic views and stunning medieval fortifications. Visit the castle and enjoy sweeping views over the plains between the Tagus and Sado rivers. From your elevated viewpoint, you’ll see the sprawling hills of São Francisco, as well as the towering Cristo Rei, a massive statue of Jesus that towers over Lisbon. From there, it’s back down to earth, and towards the gates of the park.

A unique blend of oceans vistas and verdant greenery, Arrábida Natural Park is one of Portugal’s natural gems. Once you arrive, you’ll learn about the protected area and some of the over 200 unique species that call the park home — all the while soaking up the breathtaking views of the Atlantic. After ambling through the park, you’ll also have an opportunity to relax on the Portinho Arrábida beach.

In the afternoon you’ll head to Sesimbra, a fishing village, where you’ll enjoy a walk along the coastal path that extends through the village, before heading over to the Castelo de Sesimbra, a 12th-century castle that is now a national monument. Finish up your tour at Cabo Espichel, an 18th-century religious complex, and take in the stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean, stopping for a wine tasting on the way back to Lisbon.
