Full description
Your tour will begin with a short walk through Saint-Rémy de Provence to see Van Gogh's paintings. You will visit Saint Paul de Mausole (entrance fee included), which was the mental hospital where he spent the last part of his life in a Romanesque monastery with a charming 12th century cloister. Here you can visit the reconstitution of the room of the artist, and view the reproductions of his paintings made in the Alpilles and olive groves when he was allowed to leave the facility.

From here you will continue to Montmajour Abbey (entrance fee not included) to take pictures of this magnificent place which was a source of inspiration for the artist. This was the place where he produced many drawings from 1888 to 1889, as he was fascinated by this site. On the way back to Arles, you can take a picture of Pont Langlois. This drawbridge on the canal reminded him of his homeland in the Netherlands. Following this point of the tour, you will have free time for lunch in Arles (at your own expense).

After lunch, admire Les Baux de Provence, a medieval village labeled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France". This immense and superb stone fortress is without doubt one of the "must-sees" on the Provencal tourist trail. Enjoy an audiovisual show (ticket included) in the Carrières de Lumière: a multimedia exhibition of famous paintings are displayed on the walls of the quarry accompanied by music. Vincent Van Gogh will be the theme in 2019.

To top off the day, you will be able to partake in a wine-tasting in an estate at the foot of the Alpilles hill range. The wines of Les Baux are defined by the unique, multi-faceted character of the soil, naturally protected and dried by the mistral wind. The Baux de Provence wines have been officially recognized since 1995 by a "Registered Designation of Origin" (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée). At the end of the day, you will be transported back to your point of origin, marking the end of your tour.
