  • Discover the area’s secret spots and charms with a local guide
  • Learn about Amsterdam's coffeeshop culture and its prostitution industry
Full description
Begin this tour in front of the central station of Amsterdam at the 'Tram B' sign. Get a comprehensive overview of the history of the city in either a shared, public, or small group. Start with a walk to the famous Amsterdam Red Light District, as well as the old town district and Amsterdam's Chinatown.

Next, you'll walk to the centre of the Red Light District where your guide will tell you everything about the sex work industry, coffeeshop culture, and the history of the Amsterdam Red Light District. In this area you will see many curiosities, like the narrowest street of Amsterdam, famous coffeeshops, an indoor prostitution street, and many 'smartshops'. Your guide will tell you what it's like to work as a prostitute in the Red Light District, the liberal laws, and tell you many interesting facts about sex work in Amsterdam.

Your guide will also tell you about the coffeeshop culture of Amsterdam. Learn where the name “coffeeshop” comes from, as well as some of the weird laws there are on the consumption and production of soft drugs. Then walk to the Dam Square where the tour will end. On your way to this area you'll see some of the last sights of the tour, like the Condomerie, the Royal Palace and the Dam Square.

After this tour you have the option to go to a coffeeshop with your guide to take a short workshop on how to roll a joint.

Meeting point was at the train station, then we continued towards the Rotlichviertel. We learned some general information about Amsterdam, then we dived into the red light and learned a lot of interesting things about it. We also entered a table dance and were able to take a look. We also learned something about the coffee shop and what to look out for. All in all a great informative tour. We recommend! Very personable guide !!!!!
