Full description
Depart the port of Sorrento Marina Piccola at 9:00 AM. Admire the Marina Grande, the ancient port of Sorrento. Head to Sorrento to visit the ruins of the Roman Villa of Senator Pollio, which are approximately 2000 years old. Explore the traditional fishing villages of Marina di Puolo and Marina della Lobra.
Next, arrive at a small bay where the rocks open to a cascade of fresh water. After rounding Punta Campanella, enter the Gulf of Salerno where to the left is a stretch of coast that reaches Positano, Conca dei Marini, and Amalfi. Arrive at the famous Amalfi Coast, where the water is a deep blue due to the depth of the seabed and the immense prairie Poseidonia (typical Mediterranean seaweed). This dazzling color extends from the Bay of Cala Ieranto to the Mortelle, Marina del Cantone, Recomone, and Crapolla. The coast is covered with the typical Mediterranean vegetation that borders the beaches, small fishing villages, high mountains, islands, fjords, and bays of crystalline waters.
Head to the island that lies in front of Galli Positano to bathe in its clear waters and observe its wildlife. Myth has it that Li Galli is the place where sirens lived and bewitched sailors to shipwreck on the rocks. Discover the iconography of the sirens in Greek art as half-women half-bird, as opposed to the popular image of half-woman half-fish sirens. After your swim, you can choose to continue to Positano or Amalfi, which have been resorts since the days of the Roman Empire. Positano is a village with a thousand colors and lots of stairs from the countryside to the sea. Amalfi is one of the four maritime republics of Italy.
You will have another opportunity to swim on the return journey to the port. The afternoon will be accompanied by a cool breeze, lights and shadows of the high Amalfi coast, and a spectacular romantic sunset. You will return to the port of Sorrento between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM.
