What people are saying about Alexandra Palace
When we booked the Rock Guided Tour we were expecting to understand better in what atmosphere the great music of London could be created. We also had many questions about the conditions that helped to develop such a huge industry. Bruce was perfectly prepared to all of them - even those about history and society. We were very happy that he didn't only talk about the Swinging Sixties, but also showed us venues where the punk bands played and the early 80s scene (U2, Elvis Costello, Dire Straits) met. One of the most touching moments was the visit to Amy Winehouse's house in Camden and the memorial on the opposite site. His good preparation included a very good music choice in his bus. The moment we passed the Winehouse site he played "Back in Black", while talking about Elton John's attempt to commit suicide he showed us the site where it happened and played us the song the artist wrote about it. So this is a very recommendable activity for everybody interested in pop and rock music.
Would have liked a bit less beatles and a little more of the local stuff, I,e the kinks , in fairness that is just a personal thing everyone else seemed more than happy with the mix, and , the lady driver / guide, did say that the places visited and such did vary from time to time so , if I did it again it is very likely that I would see some other places of interest . All things considered a very pleasant afternoon with a very nice group of people, I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the history of modern music , thank you very much to all concerned.
We had a little trouble finding the exact location where the tour office is. Other than that, it was a wonderful time for all. Al, our guide was very knowledgeable, knowing more about the details of a story. He made the tour for me and my family. he has great enthusiasm for the tour and the people he was showing around. Very personable. Thank him for us, again.
Good way to see parts of London that are not always covered by other tours. Our guide had good knowledge of the music industry due to his involvement in it. He was able to bring the characters to life as well as providing us with an historical perspective. Lots of fun and inclusive of all passengers with very varied taste in music.
Booked this tour as a surprise 69tg birthday present for my sister it was worth every penny and we enjoyed every bit of it, Dan Jim our guide was brilliant friendly and knowledgeable nothing was too much trouble for him - we want to do it again and try to remember everything
