What people are saying about Akrotíri
The excellent review begins and ends with our tour guide, Constantinos. He was punctual, kind, flexible, funny, smart, and overall a great person to be our Santorini liason. Having already hiked from Fira to Oia the previous day, we had already seen some sights, so he made sure that we weren't repetitive and gave great recommendations to add to the private tour such as the Akrotiri ruins and finishing at the Venetsanos Winery which was beautiful. Along with the amazing views and pictures, Constantinos (being a local teacher) really taught us a lot about the history of Santorini, covering several topics - very informative! We were very entertained and comfortable throughout the tour and we would HIGHLY recommend this service.
The day with Judy was the #1 highlight of our time in Greece. She lives on Santorini and knows it so well that while hordes of tourists were on streets near us, we were seeing the same views on streets that were not crowded. We were in 3 villages, were taken to the best food at a local restaurant, learned about the island, and taught photographic tricks of the trade we did not know even though we are experienced photographers (esp. my husband). I even learned a few things that helped me take better photos with my phone... Aside from all that, Judy is kind, fun to be with, and a delight to spend the day with. We were a family group of eight, aged 40-78 coming from a Holland America Cruise, and doing this day tour made much more sense than all of us paying $150+ per person for the cruise excursion. Plus, our driver/guide Theodore was attentive, knowledgeable and flexible with our plans, and disability/accessibility needs for our group. Much better than a huge tour bus of cruise folks. We checked out Oia, the Akrotiri ruins, did a drive through Pyrgos, and final photo op next to the Elias Monastery. Great, easy day for the old folks in our group that probably only had 4-5 hours in the tank for an outing that we wanted to do as family time.
What a fabulous tour! Thank you so much Georgia for the fantastic explanations about Akrotiri. The tour was rounded off with us being picked up by Irene and taken to our motor boat for the afternoon. Miltos was exceptional. We learnt so much about the islands and Volcanos. He showed us all the different beaches and rocks including the impressive ‚Iceberg‘ and the lovely blue colours of the sea near the local taverna where we ate in Thirassia. The boat ride after dinner to take in the sunset by Oia rounded off this perfect day. Thank you for helping us make some lovely memories!
Judy is an absolutely incredible teacher and this tour is amazing! She takes the time to help to teach and improve your photography skills no matter what your skill level or amount of experience. She will take you to unique parts of the island to get the shots that few others will ever manage to find. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys photography and wants to get to know and experience Santorini on a level that only a local can provide.
