The experience
  • Indulge in 4 plates of traditional Catalan tapas accompanied by a glass of wine or local aperitif
  • Immerse yourself in the buzz of street life and listen to stories of the once notorious Raval quarter
  • Experience the wine and cava (sparking wine) culture of Catalonia
  • Mingle with the locals in their neighborhood
Full description
Meet your guide in front of the Art Centre Santa Monica on the bottom of the Ramblas (Drassanes Metro Station) before setting off on a Barcelona food tour like no other. Get away from the touristic spots and head into local neighborhoods like the once notorious “no-go-area” Raval, which now features a unique blend of ambitious new architectural projects combined with traditional, multi-ethnic life of the barrio. Just a stone’s throw away, you will enjoy the first tapas experience of the night at a cozy little wine cellar. The tapas on offer will vary based on the fresh, daily changing menu, so what you get will be always a surprise. Not too much further, the next tapas bar awaits you as you navigate through a labyrinth of small streets that still retain their classic ambience. In contrast to the previous tapas bar, this one has a more modern approach to its cuisine. For example you can try the eggplant with honey and cinnamon, a truly contemporary and delicious dish. Head to a few more tapas joints around Las Ramblas and enjoy the night. Throughout the tour, as you delight in the discovery of new tastes, flavors, and dishes, your guide will introduce you to local gastronomic specialties, anecdotes of the city's history, and local neighborhood life. At some point during the tour, you will likely meet some of the local characters in the barrio and perhaps even get drawn into a conversation or 2. You never know what the night has in store!

A definite must do

We did this tour on our first night in Barcelona. We were exhausted, just having had arrived from Australia, but found this tour a wonderful way to spend our first evening. Dago, our guide was very interesting and friendly and went out of his way to make the evening an enjoyable one. He even ensured that, as a coeliac, I did not miss out and could enjoy the food as much as everyone else. A most memorable night.

Great way to start a holiday in Barcelona!

We had a fantastic night out with our guide and 9 others from around the world. We ate a great deal of good food and drank a great deal of good wine/sangria/beer. No dinner was required after the event! I thoroughly recommend this tour, fed, watered, entertained and home with some great memories.

A good selection of tapas with an excellent guide.

We enjoyed going to tapas bars which were not in the main tourist area. Our guide (Drago?) gave us an interesting overview of the area and we thought the selection of tapas was excellent.
