Full description
Explore Patagonia form a unique perspective as you trek along the majestic Cagliero Glacier with expert guides. Encounter beautiful forests, lakes, and river views along the way and be rewarded with a hot drink.  Meet your guide and head with your hiking group to the Reserva Los Huemules, located 16 km from El Chalten. Follow secluded trails that pass through three fascinating Lengas forests within a private reserve. Enjoy a unique view of Fitz Roy on its northern wall and continue skirting the Laguna (lake) del Diablo through a natural but irregular terrain until reaching the beginning of the Via Ferrata. Arrive at the Cagliero Glacier viewpoint and from here look to the north to catch a glimpse of the unexplored Glacier Cagliero Sur, which for years remained alive thanks to its orientation and the accumulation of snow from the Neumayer, Cagliero, and Loma del Diablo hills. From the viewpoint, take a short walk to the front of the glacier and to the Vivac Cagliero, the hiking base camp. Here the guides will equip you with all necessary trekking gear and you will begin your exploration on the glacier, lasting about 3 hours.  In the afternoon, return to the Vivac Cagliero and enjoy the scenery while having a hot drink. Afterward, begin with the descent through a Tibetan bridge to the Diablo River and from there to the entrance of the Reserva Los Huemules where the vehicle will be waiting to take you back to El Chaltén.
