Full description
Start your day with pick up from your hotel and head out on Route 11, bordering Lake Argentino. Travel 80 kilometers from El Calafate to the Moreno Glacier. On the drive out of El Calafate, you can see beautiful Lake Argentino with its Redonda Bay and try to spot its wide variety of birds. Within the first 40 kilometers, you’ll travel through the Patagonian Steppe, then enter the national park. You will arrive at the “Curva de los Suspiros” or “Sigh Curve”, the first panoramic viewpoint of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Enjoy a short stop to take pictures before moving on to Bajo las Sombras Port. You will have the option of taking an additional one-hour boat trip through the southern arm of the Iceberg Channel in order to see different views of the Perito Moreno Glacier Wall. Back at the Port, a system of balconies and footbridges allow you to enjoy walks along different paths and to take in amazing views of the glacier. After some free time for walking and lunch, make your way back to El Calafate.

The glacier is wonderful and definetly a must see in Argentinia. The boat tour was great and the free time at the balconies perfect. The tour was in total good with two deficites. The tour was with a big travel bus and a lot of people. So in the bus nearly every row was full and that was not so nice with Corona. Also every participant was picked up by the bus, so if you have been picked up in the beginning you just drive one hour for pickung up… Also the guide was speaking a lot spanish and not so much english. In the bus the guide explained a lot in spanish like 10 minutes and then for the english people 2 sentences. Furthermore you should know that the majority is spanish speaking and english is quite uncommon.

The tour itself was great. The guide was helpful and knowledgable, especially as we were the only English speakers on the tour, and she took care to make sure she translated everything. It was a relaxing and easy day enjoying natural beauty. The one challenge was the local tour company did not contact us ahead of time to discuss pickup. The GetYourGuide voucher said we would be contacted 24h in advance with pickup details, and that pickup would be at our hotel between 7:30 and 8 AM. When nobody arrived by 8:05, our hotel contacted the local partner, Tolkeyen Patagonia Turismo. At that point, Tolkeyen said they would pick us up at 9:10, but 1) it was stressful thinking they had forgotten us, and 2) it would have been helpful to have been provided those details the day before, as GetYourGuide said we would be.

The trip itself is very worthwhile. By using this company, it makes everything simple and you can relax and not have to worry. The company actually didn't contact us the day before with a pick up time which did cause some confusion in the morning but we managed to get hold of them via the telephone. If you book this we would HIGHLY recommend including the cruise. We still have plenty of time to explore the boardwalk.
