Take an exhilarating 1-hour fjord tour from Eidfjord Harbor as your captain explains the sights along the way. Stop at a place where goats will come down to the boat, and pause to look at seals in the sea or on land. Look out for the rich birdlife that populates Eidfjord, and learn about about what has shaped the nature, people and society in this region.   Pass one of Norway's largest power plants at Simadal Fjord, and admire the steep mountainsides and waterfalls of this fjord. Alternatively, cruise out to Hardangerbrua to study the power station from the sea. Along this route, you'll pass a waterfall that almost falls on the boat on rainy days, and other sights of cultural-historical significance.

Private tour: Hardanger Fjord Cruise & Vøringsfoss Waterfall

2. Private tour: Hardanger Fjord Cruise & Vøringsfoss Waterfall

This private guided round trip starts by car in Bergen at 7 AM, lasts for about 10 hours, and will take you through beautiful scenery with views of majestic mountains, roaring waterfalls, and idyllic orchards. If Sognefjord is the king of the fjords, then Hardangerfjord is the queen. Stretching for 179 kilometers (111 miles), it is the second-largest fjord in Norway and the fourth-largest in the world. Surrounded by towering cliffs, snow-capped mountains, and blossoming fruit trees, this part of Norway is a masterpiece of spellbinding nature, even for the most seasoned traveler. Depart from the charming village of Norheimsund and journey to Eidfljord through a landscape full of historic villages, waterfalls, and orchards. Make sure to have your camera ready! In the distance, see Folgefonna glacier and national park, the third largest glacier in Norway. On the way, the boat stops in Herand, Utne, Lofthus, Kinsarvik, and Ulvik. Upon arrival in Eidfjord, continue by car up 700 meters (almost 2,300 feet) to Vøringsfossen waterfall. See the landscape open up before you as you make your way up, and take a minute to really appreciate the view once you reach the top. Step forward, if you dare, and watch the raging water hit the valley 182 meters (597 feet) below. From Vøringsfossen, take a scenic drive back toward Bergen, passing Hardangerfjord Bridge and Voss town on the way.

What people are saying about Eidfjord

It was a fantastic tour. At high speed you make a beautiful trip through the fjord. The captain stops at beautiful points and tells about the locals, the environment and the animals that live there. It's doable. You get a waterproof and warm suit on what is needed. Would do it again even in less weather and rain.

The ride was beautiful - great explanations - we learned a lot about the electric power plant and about the animal world. To our delight we saw a white-tailed eagle. In between a lot of fast maneuvers with daring corners, we laughed a lot. Thank you for the nice afternoon.

If you want to experience sensation on the Fjord, this is a tour that you should definitely experience. in addition to the information about the power plan and waterfalls, the speed and sharp turns are fantastic. the rush/adrenaline is superb.

Lots of good information about the area, beautiful views and I loved the small group.

An absolute highlight in the Eidfjord! I absolutely recommend it. Great driver/guide.
