    On this full‐day tour you’ll journey south across the Scottish border into England. As you head south you’ll hear all about the historic rivalry between Scotland and England while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Borders. Your first stop will be at The Hirsel, a country house and estate where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy some homemade treats. The tour continues with a 1-hour stop at the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, a tidal island off the northeast coast of England. Lindisfarne is internationally known both for its medieval religious heritage and also its picturesque 16th-century castle. Alnwick Castle is the second-largest inhabited castle in the UK and has been home to the Percys, the Duke of Northumberland’s family, for over 700 years. In recent years it has also played starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey’s 2014 Christmas special and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films. You’ll have approximately 2.5 hours at Alnwick to explore the castle and the gardens and to have lunch. You can explore a Downton Abbey exhibition, featuring photography, costumes, and props from the filming. Enjoy relaxing music on board during your enjoyable ride back to Edinburgh.

    After a bit of a bad start through no fault of the driver, we had a tyre blow out, we were on our way. Bill, the driver and guide was very friendly and knowledgable, we didn’t go into the Castle but we did walk around Alnwick town which was lovely. We enjoyed the walk around the grounds and up to the castle entrance, the views were lovely. Enjoyed Lindidsfarne although we didn’t have a great lot of time before the tide was due in and the castle on Holy Island was covered in scaffolding so difficult to get a good picture. All in all an enjoyable day.

    Took the tour to Holy Island ana Anlwick Castle.I can not say enough positive things about the company we were picked up right by our hotel and met Grayline Graham. I can not express how wonderful he made the trip!!!!! There was a car accident and some of the other people from different areas were not able to get to the bus on time the bus company made calls and got the people taxis.He explained the situation in full and asked all of us to please understand that people have traveled all over the world to see Scotland. I was so impressed by how everyone at Grayline went above and beyond to help the customers fulfill there tour and Graham was the best !!!!! His,stories were wonderful you could see how much he loves people and his job.I personal would go back and do the same tour all over again there was so much to see!!!!! We just couldn't see it all in one trip. Also I had read a lot of reviews that people were unable to make it to Holy island Graham made sure to check the tide times s

    I had a great time on this trip. Our driver was a nice and funny guide, and provided some information about history too, on the way to the Castles. We always had plenty of time to look around. I got what I have expected after reading the tour description. I would recommend it, even if you are not a big Harry Potter fan. The places are beautiful and we were lucky with the weather!
