Take a full-day tour from Munich to Hitler’s mountain retreat, located in the mountains above Berchtesgaden. Presented to him in 1939 as a 50th birthday present, the mountain chalet took 13 months to complete and includes an elevator bored through a tunnel in the rocks to reach the entrance. You will depart from Munich and drive along some of the most scenic roads in the German Alps. On arrival, a special bus will take you up to the Eagle´s Nest entrance area, where you will ride the elevator to the mountain peak, and into Eagle´s Nest itself. Look at beautiful views over the Alps, with free time on your own to explore. The lower rooms can be visited with an English-speaking guide, and offer views of the building's past through plate-glass windows. Graffiti left by Allied troops is clearly visible in the surrounding woodwork. A large fireplace in the restaurant shows severe damage along its lower edges, where soldiers have smashed off small shards of marble as souvenirs. Hitler's small study is now used as a store room for the cafeteria. After the tour, you will get more free time to go to the NS-Documentation-Center in Berchtesgaden, before the drive back to Munich.

The road leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden and after a short photo stop here continue to the Obersalzberg Eagle’s Nest bus terminal. Here board a specially equipped mountain bus and experience a breathtaking ride up the four-mile (6.4 kilometers) road, negotiating a 27% incline up to a rocky plateau. Disembark the bus here and walk through the 406 foot (124 meters) tunnel to the original WWII brass elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest. Feel the palpable sense of history as the elevator carries you a further 406 feet (124 meters) through the heart of the Kehlstein mountain and straight into Hitler’s former lair. On arrival, take a fascinating tour of the building and afterward get some free time to enjoy the birdseye views and refreshments. Descend from the Obersalzberg toward the mountain town of Berchtesgaden. See the fortress-like system of underground bunker complexes that were built by the Nazis to be used as air-raid shelters, a military headquarters, and a possible last refuge for the Third Reich leaders. This tour combines the original locations from the musical "The Sound of Music" with the historical "Eagle's Nest". Your tour starts with a tour of the city including the Palaces Leopoldskron (von Trapp Family House) and Hellbrunn (Sound of Music Pavilion). Hellbrunn Palace is on the way to the Eagle's Nest which will be next. Passing the border to Germany the journey continues to the Sound of Music Meadow (The Hills are alive). Now is your chance to spin in the field, reenacting the opening scene. Head to the "Obersalzberg" which is located at 3000 ft. elevation right below the Eagle's Nest. Access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and an elevator. Admire the scenic view of the Bavarian Mountains, the King's Lake, and the surrounding area of Salzburg. Returning from the Eagle's Nest, continue to the second highlight of our tour, the Salzburg Lake District. Travel through the Wies Valley and further on to Fuschl and St. Gilgen. Take a stunning photo of the castle of Fuschl with emerald Lake Fuschl in the background. The next highlight is Lake Wolfgang and the village St. Gilgen, the scenery of the area was shown at the beginning of "The Sound of Music." We were very lucky weather sunny and bright saw beautiful scenery and good stops for photos - our guide was our driver as well and he was extremely informative about many different subjects when he was asked about historical/political facts during Second World War etc he was so interesting well worth the money I would recommend Panorama tours we did 3 trips with them efficient punctual and good drivers/guides
