Explore the natural beauty of Wachau Valley as you travel by kayak along the Danube on a private tour. See the incredible scenery, enjoy a delicious tasting of local wine, explore picturesque Durnstein, have a tasty lunch, and more. Meet at the main entrance of Vienna’s Westbahnhof railway station before a one-hour train journey to Melk, home of the world-famous baroque abbey, or meet there directly. The charming village of Spitz, approximately halfway through the valley, marks the beginning of the wine region. Noted for its dry Rieslings, Austria’s signature Gruner Veltliner, and the wonderfully unique and earthy Neuburger, visit one of the town’s finest local producers for an extensive tasting, before lunch (own expense) in a local hamlet. After this, paddle further east and see the steep valley landscape transform into visually stunning rows of dry stone walls and vines, separated into hundreds of individual vineyard plots. End the journey in picturesque Durnstein, the gem of the valley. You can climb the famous castle ruins or wander through the village, taking in its old-world medieval charm. What people are saying about Dürnstein

What a wonderful time we had. Santiago was an excellent guide, and provided guidance in both English and Spanish for our group as needed. Plus, he was super knowledgeable of all the wines, the area, and was just fun to chat with about life during the can ride and our group lunch break. As sellers of Domaine Wachau wines at our Restaurant in America, it was exciting to meet the producers in person and get a taste of all the different wines. Plus, getting the contrast with the slightly larger producer and the smaller, family growers was really exciting. A really really hot day made for some lovely white wine. The valley was gorgeous and the stop in Durnstein was super cute and just the right amount of time. They have several different liquor and chocolate sellers so you can get unlimited free samples by hopping from shop to shop. The lunch had great vegetarian options for us, the river cruise was lovely and scenic, and we got a quick pick in Melk before heading home. Thanks Santiago!!!

Guide was excellent with English and Spanish. The stops were worth time and the money. Would have liked a bit more time at the abbey to explore without the group.
