Full description
The city of Dubrovnik is known for a lot of things: its UNESCO-worthy Old Town, the sprinkling of idyllic islands that surround the mainland, the ancient city walls that comprise King's Landing in the popular HBO show 'Game of Thrones'... However, one thing that Dubrovnik is not know for, and should be, is the incredible food and wine. Take a lovely guided tour of the city's World Heritage Site-listed Old Town, and visit four cozy restaurants nestled within for a taste of Dubrovnik's unique gastronomy. Walk down the beautiful cobblestone streets and alleyways of the Old Town, and pass by some of the city's major sights, including the Franziscan and Dominican monasteries, the palaces of Sponza and Rector, and the Baroque cathedral. Discover national culinary traditions through the years, and enjoy a tasting of various snacks accompanied by a glass of local wine. Finish the fun food adventure at a cute patisserie within the ancient walls of Old Town for a taste of traditional Croatian cake.

Food tours are one of favorite activities when we visit a new city and this food tour definitely met our expectations. Our guide led us around the old town and introduced us to several restaurants known for their local cuisine. She explained the history and relevance of the food as well as how they were prepared. The wine pairings with each tasting were excellent and we learned about several regional wines. I would highly recommend this food tour.

The food and wine tour was an excellent way to explore more of Dubrovnik and Croatia. We met other travelers, tasted the local cuisine, and our guide told us about how the food and culture of the area developed. Everyone loves good food, and hearing stories and history from our guide was the perfect way for our group to gain some insight into what makes life different in this part of the world.

The food spots were excellent. A glass of wine is provided at three of the four stops and alcohol is offered at the last with cake. The amount of food is relatively light but it’s good for trying different things at each restaurant. Maria explains a lot of extra things about Croatia that we didn’t expect to get on a food tour. It was very interesting to hear what Croatians eat and how they prepare their meals. I would definitely recommend!
