Christ Church Cathedral Entrance Ticket & Self-Guided Tour

3. Christ Church Cathedral Entrance Ticket & Self-Guided Tour

Journey back in time by almost 1,000 years as you enter Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. Built circa 1028, the sacred monument is perfectly located in the heart of the city's medieval center and features a beautiful interior and the largest crypt in Ireland. Constructed in the early 12th century, and the oldest structure still in use in Dublin today, the crypt is home to some fascinating memorials and curiosities. Look at the treasury, and see the mummified cat and rat. According to cathedral lore, the cat chased the rat into the pipe of an organ and both became stuck. They are mentioned by James Joyce in "Finnegans Wake" and are known locally - with typical Dublin wit - as "Tom and Jerry." Follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims who beat a path to the church in the Middle Ages. Learn about the important collection of relics in the church. Admire the stained glass windows and medieval floor tiles of the nave.

What people are saying about Dublin

The Dublin Walking Street Food tour was amazing! Kevin was an incredible host - he was very enthusiastic & knowledgeable and shared lots of useful tidbits of local history. The pace of the walk was just right with plenty of time to buy and sample the treats and time to recover as well. Kevin also helped us as individuals as well as a group by giving tips on the best things to see and do with our remaining time in Dublin. If doing the experience on your own then there is the chance to buddy up with others and to split the food which makes it a more friendly (and cheaper) experience.

The food tour was excellent, local history of the liberties area of Dublin with 5 great food stops, plus constant recommendations for your Dublin trip. Do this early into your stay as you'll want to follow Kevin's advice. Thanks for a great morning.

Really enjoyable tour. Kevin is both entertaining and informative. He has lots of background on Dublin’s food and drink but also gives a sense of the city’s history. I would definitely recommend the experience.

You won't leave hungry. Skip breakfast the day of your tour, you'll have plenty of food. Don't want to give too much of Kevin's tour away, he's knowledgeable and talks the entire tour about the area.

Brilliant tour really enjoyable . Bit of history and doughnuts thrown in .
