Full description

Among the many highlights of this full-day tour are visits to Cong Abbey and Lough Corrib. You’ll stop for 1.5 hours in the charming village of Cong, which became famous when it was featured in the film, The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Explore the ruins of Cong Abbey and take in the stunning views of the surrounding lakes. There are some local cafés that would be perfect for lunch! The tour then continues on through some of the most remote landscape in Ireland, and along deserted valleys that offer views of the lakes and mountains of Connemara. Stop at some of the most scenic points in the region. Later you’ll travel along the coast, admiring the fine views of Galway Bay as you make your way into Galway City. You’ll have a couple of hours to experience Ireland’s coolest city! In Galway you have the option of joining a local walking tour with a Galway tour guide or simply explore the charming city on your own before returning to Dublin.

Our base was Dublin for 4 Days. But searching, Get Your Guide offered us a day trip to Galway and the Connemara Lakes. A boon. Departure 8am, return 8.30pm. Our guide was the driver! Although friendly, he didn't speak a word of French, which is a shame. We were about ten French people. Moreover, we thought we had explanations of the History of Ireland, or anecdotes, none of that. That too is a shame.... This being so, it allowed us to see the Irish landscapes before arriving at our destination. It was a very, very positive day despite these regrets.

Cute, but I expected it to be different. We did two hours in Galway, visiting it independently and it is very beautiful. Unfortunately, the sore point is that in Connemara we went down very little to take pictures and to see the village of Cong. Beautiful, but I expected to be able to walk a little more for nature.

It was an excellent tour, cash the bus driver was very funny and knowledgeable. The only negative of the tour was that in Galway we were told that we were changing buses, as we were on a one day tour not the three-day tour. Very little information was given on this surprise notice except an address to catch the next bus. That bus which we eventually found dropped us off at a different location in Dublin with no information prior to the drop off where we were being dropped off or how to get back to the original drop off point we were left on our own.
