Full description
Step into authentic daily life in Doha on this tour of the Souq Waqif marketplace. Explore the traditional shops and art galleries on display, and shop cooking spices, herbs, rose petals, incense, and more. Enjoy hotel, airport, or port pickup options. Souq Waqif in Doha is a showpiece of traditional architecture, handicrafts, and folk art, and was once a weekend trading area for the Bedouins. Souq Waqif means standing market. Falcon souq, spice souq, pet souq, gold souq, handicraft souq, and art galleries are just some of what you can see here. A visit to one of the falcon shops is an especially unique experience; some shopkeepers will allow you to photograph and handle the birds while explaining equipment and training. As you explore, get a chance to enjoy the regular displays of folk dance and music, particularly on festive occasions, and take authentic pictures. The only traditional souq to remain in the gulf, it’s now a charming labyrinth of narrow streets where visitors can bargain and purchase an amazingly diverse range of products.
