1. From Athens: Full-Day Tour to Delphi with Licensed Guide

After meeting your licensed tour guide, hop on board an air-conditioned vehicle and depart for Delphi Archaeological Site. Find yourself being immersed in the myths and monuments of Ancient Greece as you drive through Boeotia, hearing tales about King Oedipus, God Apollo, and more. Your first stop is Kryas Springs, a picturesque valley in the city of Levadia. Walking routes along the banks, streams, limestone formations as well as stone and wooden bridges create the perfect scenery for a short stroll. The main stop of the tour is the Delphi Archaeological Site. Upon arrival, marvel at some of the most important and unique archaeological monuments, such as the Athenian Stoa, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Polygonal Wall, and the Temple of Apollo. Visit the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, which hosts globally known artifacts like the Naxian Sphinx, the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians, the bronze Charioteer of Delphi, and the statue of Antinoos. Make a final stop in the village of Arachova. Here, get time for lunch in one of the many traditional restaurants of the village (costs not included). Take a walk around the villages' narrow alleys, where you can admire hand-woven carpets and buy local delicacies such as Formaela cheese. In the late afternoon, get back on the vehicle and return to Athens.

From Athens: Private Tour in Delphi & Arachova Village

2. From Athens: Private Tour in Delphi & Arachova Village

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel or cruise ship from where your experience begins. From there you journey out of Athens, passing the plain of Boeotia - an agricultural center, and the city of Thebes - the birthplace of King Oedipus. You'll soon reach the Archaeological Museum of Thebes, one of the most important museums of Greece. The exhibits there originate from excavations all around Boeotia, and cover a long chronological period spanning from the Palaeolithic to the Post-Byzantine periods. Your visit to the museum also includes a walk around the fascinating Mycenae Palace and the Mycenaean Tombs. Continuing onward, you'll travel to Delphi. Once there, explore the Castalia Spring, the archaeological site of Delphi, the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the Monument of Platea, and the Temple of Apollo. Its spectacular exhibits include the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifinians, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos, the metopes of the Athenian Treasury, and the famous bronze Charioteer, which was originally created to commemorate a victory during the 476-B.C. Pythian Games. Later, visit the traditional-yet-cosmopolitan village of Arachova, which sits at 1,000 meters above sea level. It is one of the most popular winter resorts of Greece, and whilst there you can stroll through the local market which boasts a great variety of hand-made pastries, cheese, spices, and many other local products.

The amazing highlight of your visit to Greece is a tour of the two exceptional religious and historical sites. We were very satisfied with the whole process. Our driver was very nice and accommodating. He provided us with information on the drive to Delphi and also let us get off at two places to visit them. In Delphi he reserved a table for us in a restaurant, where we went to eat after our tour. The restaurant was very good. Our tour guide confidently guided us through the museum and the excavation site in German. We were all excited.

Our trip to Delphi was fantastic! Effi, our guide, picked us up at our hotel, and we headed out. On our journey to Delphi, she talked about the ancient site that we were about to see. Effi was very knowledgeable. We walked thru the grounds, then the museum, narrating the significant features along the way. Before heading back, we had a terrific lunch in the village of Delphi.

We’ve had an excellent experience: from the hiring process to the smallest details. Mariza and Lazarus picked us up on time and took care of everything we needed. Mariza is a great guide and helped us to understand much better part of Greek history. My family and I have had an amazing time in their company.

Our guide Kimon and driver were great. Quite a long day most of it in the hot sun. Our only gripe is that we specifically booked and paid more for a 'small group' which was supposed to be not more than 15 people. It turned out to be many more than that. So I wouldn't bother paying for the 'small groups'.

Maria has been very accommodating, knowledgeable and patient with all of us. She shared her experiences and her expertise in the study of Greek Mythology. She’s very kind and her sincere attitude makes me and the entire group feel at ease. Best experience so far
