Robbie was our tour guide/driver and he was most excellent. He provided us with some great history and we saw some amazing sites along the way. He personalized the tour by telling us about his favorite places to go and where he grew up. Robbie could tell I was interested in taking pictures and would point out vantage points that provided the best camera angles. He was patient with all our questions and he never rushed us. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if Robbie is your guide. Szentendre is a quaint town by the water. and has a charm and artistic feel. And don't miss the Marzipan Museum - very cute. Robbie treated us to a cheese langosh, which was truly the most delicious. He found the perfect spot for our picnic. Robbie recommended other sights to see in Budapest and told us a personal story about his experience with the crown in Parliament which was very interesting. He even told me specific trams and buses to take to other villages similar to Szentendre.
The cycle tour along the Danube to Szentendre was interesting and fun. Our guide, Karoyl, showed us a number of the national treasures like St Stephens Basilica and House of Parliament but we also enjoyed riding through Margaret Island and seeing the more communists influenced outer suburbs. It was also lovely to wander around the quaint Szentedre streets at the end of the ride. Some level of fitness required especially in the heat of the day. Bikes were good standard and easy to ride.
The town and scenery was amazing! The bus ride their was also nice and it was very nice to be picked up at the hotel. However, after the first 20 min, you were left by yourself at the tour guide left the group. I didn’t realise that would happen and I was quite put off. It was nice to hear about the history of the town from the guide. Was sort of hard to fill time after she left
Szentendre is a very peaceful and nice place to visit. Elizabeth was an energetic and humorous guide. The minibus was excellent. It was a four and a half hour trip, but could be an hour longer to have the satisfaction of an excellent trip. Cruise back to Budapest was a pleasant one too.
We enjoyed this tour and only wished there was more time to shop. I wanted to buy some of the Hungarian lace items and mushroom hat but there was no time! I wish there was an option to go back on a later boat. Prices seemed lower here than in Budapest.
