  • Marvel at the huge Inca walls, built with massive rocks
  • Explore Qenqo, an unusual site with subterranean passages and carved stone interiors
Full description
Your 5-hour tour begins in the early afternoon with a pick-up at your accommodation in downtown Cusco. Begin by visiting the Coricancha Sun Temple, a wonderful ceremonial construction built during the heyday of the Incas. Your next stop is the Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square. Admire the spectacular interiors of the Cathedral as your guide explains how it was built on top of Inca buildings.  Then enjoy a drive to the northern outskirts of Cusco to the spectacular Inca complex at Sacsayhuaman. Pass through the openings of the huge Inca walls, built with massive rocks weighing up to 180 tons fitted with absolute perfection. Continue to another important Inca site, known as Qenqo (zigzag). This very unusual place has subterranean passages hidden in its perfectly carved stone interior. It is likely that the Incas probably mummified their dead here. Visit the Inca baths at Tambomachay and the military lookout point of Puka Pukara. Be driven back to downtown Cusco where your tour ends.

The city tour with the buildings in Cusco was very nice. The cathedral at the plaza is very impressive. The history of Cusco was explained very well by our guide. Unfortunately, we visited a shop with baby alpaca items (clothes, gloves, etc.) between stops 2 and 3, where the people on our tour shopped for about 45 minutes and we therefore only reached the last two destinations at dusk or at dusk. could visit in the dark. We find the stop better at the end of the tour.

Excellent tour! Worthwhile

This is a very good comprehensive tour of the most relevant Inca temples in and around Cuzco. We started at the Cathedral (previously an Inca temple), then went to St Domingue (Qoricancha temple), and then visited the ruins near Cuzco: Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Tambomachay (we skipped Puca Pucara because the sun was setting). The guide, Carlos, was extremely good. He guided in English and we all enjoyed learning many details. I definitely recommend it.

Interesting

Tour was interesting, guide did a good job and was funny. He explained first in Spanish, then in English. With sometimes not breathing between! ;) So it was hard for us to follow up. Also when there is not much time on each spot, it is good to see so many ruins and places on one day.
