Full description
Receive a short 30-minute tour on your arrival at the museum of rural history and folk craft in the Arolithos Traditional Cretan Village. Traditional Cretan cuisine is considered to be one of the healthiest in the world. Here you can learn from the masters while they create famous Cretan dishes which you can participate in before making your very own. You can create stuffed vine leaves, stuffed vegetables, pork with wine sauce, lamb with green beans, traditional Cretan ntakos, tzatziki and sarikopites, and coiled cheese pies. Afterwards, you can sit down to enjoy the dishes you have prepared with local wine and mineral water. Participants will also receive a cooking certification document, which has been authorized by the Arolithos Traditional Cretan Village.

    One of the best cooking classes I’ve taken in terms of content and value. I was afraid to book this class because there were so few reviews, but I am so glad I booked it. Mari our hostess was extremely welcoming and friendly. She gave us a brief overview of Cretan history and then we started the class which felt very authentic and organized. This was a private tour and my partner and I are fairly introverted people, but we felt completely at ease and comfortable during the class. We chopped and stuffed vegetables, learned how to make some meat dishes, prepared dessert, and at the end had plenty of time and a wonderful view to enjoy our meal and drink some wine. It takes place in a traditional Cretan town so that afterward you have the opportunity (without pressure) to shop in the various stores. Very memorable experience!

    This was an absolute highlight of our trip and we would definitely recommend it! My teenage son and I ended up being the only participants, so we got an individualized experience. Evi was a delightful guide to the museum/site of Arothilos Traditional Cretan Village. With her guidance, we made a variety of dishes--stuffed peppers, tomatoes, grape leaves, and zucchini; tatziki sauce (my son's favorite); dakos (Cretan salad w/ feta and tomatoes); and fried cheese-stuffed dough served w/ honey for dessert. We also had a cooking demonstration by Maria, who prepared a pork stew with peppers and a lamb stew with green beans. Then--after first tasting some local products (olive oil, bread, sheep cheese, raki, wine)--we sat on the shaded terrace and had an incredible feast that included all of the dishes. Spectacular!

    A great culinary journey to a village from the past. Many thanks to Evi and Kristina and of course the whole team. You can describe it with one word: heaven. It was likely to us a journey into the past. We had a personal tour of the entire village and all the sights. The second highlight was the cooking of various traditional dishes from Crete. After we finished we were served our menu on the terrace with an overwhelming view. Of course we got our certificate and the recipes at the end. In the village store we bought the Plivenäl and some herbs. Thank you for this great experience . Jasmin & Hazema
