Full description

Learn about the age-old tradition of wine and olive oil production in Chania, then enjoy a lunch of traditional food and local wine. Discover how an authentic 17th-century mountain settlement has been transformed into an ethical tourist complex.

After pickup at your hotel in the Chania region, travel to the traditional village of Spilia and admire stunning views of the surrounding countryside from the cave of Saint John the Hermit. Head toward Ano Vouves village to see the 3,000-5,000-year-old olive tree that still produces fruit.

Explore a small typical farm and enjoy a cup of coffee or fresh orange juice. At Anoskeli's olive mill and winery, sample organic extra virgin olive oil on warm bread with oregano and continue with a tasting of 5 different types of local wine with some authentic snacks from Crete.  Drive along the dirt roads to the amazing Milia Mountain Retreat agro-tourism complex. Step back in time at a retreat where the lack of electricity and the stone homes invite visitors to get back to basics and switch off from the everyday stress of the modern world.

Driving back to Chania, marvel at the wild landscapes of the Topolia Gorge.

This was a beautiful wine tasting experience! Our guide, Dimitris, was absolutely wonderful! He was very knowledgeable and had lots of interesting information to share with us while driving to the various locations. The wine/olive oil tasting happened at a beautiful location! You try two different olive oils and 3-4 different wines I believe. Beware! We made the mistake of buying too much olive oil from this place only to find out that this olive oil can be found in the United States. Of course it is much cheaper here, but we would have preferred to save some more space for wine! Our lunch was also at a beautiful mountainous location and was very tasty! Dimitris also gave some very helpful recommendations for other things to do/check out on the island and they were fantastic recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed! Would absolutely recommend this tour to others!

Excellent, Dimitriou was a great tour guide and just a generally great person. Very knowledgeable about Crete and the places we visited, he made it fun and informative at the same time. We never felt rushed and was a very worth while experience. Would highly recommend

Wonderful and intimate tour! We were able to see the oldest olive tree in the world on a family-owned farm, then travel to Anoskeli winery where we tried olive oil and wines from the winery. The olive oil was the best we have ever had. We then traveled to a lovely restaurant for lunch, where our meals were already ordered and we were able to try traditional Cretan food like stuffed zucchini flowers (our personal favorite). We were shown around the countryside as well, and while it was good amount of driving, the views were fantastic! There were supposed to be 4 of us, but the other couple did not show up so we got a personal tour from George who was incredible! He was extremely friendly and we really enjoyed his company throughout the day. Overall, a great tour that we highly recommend.
