Full description
After pickup head to the first stop of the day, the charming village of Margarites, steeped in Venetian roots. The village makes up one of Crete’s four main pottery centers and the tradition of pottery here dates back many generations to the Neolithic period. Meet a local potter to learn about traditional pottery techniques and how these are still useful in our modern lives. Following your pottery experience, leave Margarites behind and head to a hidden paradise between the mountains of Kedros and Psilorites. Nestled in the valley, discover a sea of colorful flowers which blooms for just a few short weeks during spring. Spend some free time wandering amongst the flowers, taking photos, and soaking up the splendid sights and scents of this natural wonder. The valley is home to an array of flowers including orchids and irises, as well as the rare tulipa doerfleri. Once you’ve worked up a bit of an appetite, head to a nearby taverna where a traditional lunch awaits you. Against the backdrop of the majestic Psilorites mountain, enjoy your meal and admire the view. Finally, visit the picturesque village of Spili where you can get a sense of authentic Cretan life before heading back to your accommodation.
