Ed was an excellent guide with local knowledge. He brought us into the heart of the favela experience. He was extremely friendly and gave good advice throughout the tour. Ed clearly instructed the driver that there were two drop offs at people’s original pick up points - Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. The driver drove straight to Copacabana beach, missing our drop, and adamantly denied needing to go to Ipanema when questioned on it. It was a 3.9km walk back in the midday sun.

I believe this is an essential visit for a better understanding of Brazil, its history and social structure. Our guide, Carlos, is an excellent speaker, knowledgeable and passionate about Rocinha and with whom one can talk about the economy or development policy. I came away feeling that we can and must brainstorm and do something to give the local people and their children a future…

Amazing. What a very interesting day experience. Definitely recommended if you want to know more about history in las favelas.

Unforgettable experience! Special recognition to the guide Edson for making such an incredible visit

Really interesting experience if you want to learn about the favelas
