Warsaw: 3-Hour Communism Tour in an Original Socialist Van

1. Warsaw: 3-Hour Communism Tour in an Original Socialist Van

On this unique trip through the legacy of Polish socialism, you will explore Warsaw in a Nysa 522, an original socialist-style van. You will be picked up from your hotel before starting the tour around the places in Warsaw connected with the socialist past, where you can experience this era in Polish history for yourself. The tour starts at Plac Konstytucji (Constitution Square), the first square ever to be built especially for the working people. Here you will feel the propaganda of the socialist era before heading on to the Ministry of Agriculture, where you will have the chance to learn about the utopian plans of the post-war city reconstruction. The next stop on the tour is at the Palace of Culture and Science, where you can learn about this gift from “Uncle” Stalin. You will then continue on to the very heart of socialism, the old seat of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party. You will also visit a typical housing estate and enter a flat furnished in the socialist style. Here you will be invited to taste a typical refreshment of the workers from the socialist era – a shot of vodka and a slice of bread with lard and pickles. Not only will you see how people used to live during the socialist era, you will also have a unique opportunity to watch the post-1950s propaganda films.

Warsaw: Off the Beaten Path Tour

2. Warsaw: Off the Beaten Path Tour

Go on an adventure through history on a tour of Warsaw. Ride in an original Polish socialistic car, the Nysa 522, as you travel all across the city, learning about various historical facts and seeing the most important sites related to the socialist era. See the different faces of Warsaw: from the yards of XIX-century tenement houses to Constitution Square, the Palace of Culture and Science, Próżna street, Muranów District, and pre-war Praga on the other side of the river. As you travel along, your tour guide will entertain you with facts and anecdotes about life in Warsaw. Meanwhile, you will get a lesson on socialist propaganda in the form of news. In Praga, you will see unconventional sites: from a bazaar, where you could buy almost anything, or to the quiet Jewish cemetery. See an old Vodka factory, and finally visit a famous local band, who will play a song just for you.

It was an amazing tour with Artur ! he was super knowledgeable of the history, fun facts as well as was super precise with numbers and dates. We could tell he knew a lot and he is a real Warsaw local. The mini van is not comfortable but we only go with it for short distances. We had an authentic lunch at a milk bar, saw many interesting faces of Warsaw you could not find in any guide as well as had a good overview of the city history. You do this tour and complement with the must see attractions and you have an exhausted experience of Warsaw. We also 100% recommend Artur as a guide. Lot of the success of the tour is on his shoulder and he smashes it.

Our guide artur was a VERY friendly and open-minded person with a ton of knowledge about warsaw. it was definitly worth the asked price and it was a really good experience. would recommend it to anyone who wants to see another side of warsaw.
