Take a trip from Lisbon to Setúbal for a day of fun in the sun and the sea. Dive into the town's history and seafaring heritage on a walking tour. Take a ferry ride to the Troia Peninsula dotted with pine forested sand dunes. Then, in Comporta, mount your horse and gallop off to the beach. Explore Setúbal, the most important center of Portugal's fishing industry. Visit the bustling fish market of  Mercado do Livramento, the historic center, the Monastery of Jesus, and the São Filipe Fortress where you can soak in one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Next, head towards Comporta on a 25-minute ferry ride, admiring the beauty of the Troia's coast, one of the world’s longest uninterrupted stretches of sand, and keep your eye peeled for dolphins. Upon arrival in Comporta, a protected natural reserve suspended between sea and rice fields, get ready for horseback riding with instructions from your guide. Ride your horse across rice paddies, pine forests, and sand dunes until you reach the Atlantic coast. At the end of the tour, return to the center of Lisbon in a comfortable minibus. Located just 1 hour away from Lisbon and suspended between the sea and rice fields, Comporta offers a glimpse of paradise. Check out this unique landscape as you ride on horseback with instruction provided by your guide. Head over hills covered with gnarled cork trees, through vivid green rice fields, and past the traditional Comporta cabana where fishermen live. Finally, ride over the dunes and onto the Praia da Torre beach where you can marvel at the sandy Atlantic Coast. This activity is suitable for all skill levels and you don’t need to be a trained horse rider to take part. Your instructor will be able to advise you about the best techniques and help you along the way.

Your tour will begin with a pickup up from your hotel, accommodation or ship. As this is a private tour, your itinerary is flexible and you can choose which places you would most like to see, in discussion with your driver. You will start by heading south by the Iron Bridge towards the Melides beach area (an approximately one-hour drive). Next, head further south to Sines (the birthplace of Vasco da Gama), Porto Covo, Milfontes and Zambujeira do Mar beaches. In between these points, depending on your preferences, you’ll have lunch at one of the many restaurants of the region that is known for its fresh fish and exquisite seafood. If weather permits and you wish to, you can also spend some time on one of the many visited beaches. After Zambujeira we will return back to your hotel or accommodation where we will arrive approximately by 6.30 PM.

Continue south along the extensive beaches of crystal clear waters to Sines, the historic seaside town where Vasco da Gama, the navigator who discovered India in 1458, was born.There are many typical restaurants here. They offer the best of the sea, but also the flavours of the Alentejo countryside. From the beach of São Torpes to the charming village of Porto Covo, enjoy one of the most beautiful roads in Portugal and be sure to stop at Samoqueira beach, where you can admire magnificent rocks sculpted by the sea. Before returning to Lisbon, we head to Vila Nova de Milfontes, another of the region's highlights, within the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicente Natural Park. Situated at the mouth of the River Mira, it's perfect for a summer holiday, with a huge variety of landscapes and things to do.
