1. From Buenos Aires: Colonia Ferry Tickets and Optional Tour

Enjoy a day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, the first site in Uruguay to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the city with a round-trip ferry ticket from Buenos Aires to Colonia city. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese Manuel Lobo, the city went from Portuguese to Spanish rule several times until the Declaration of Independence in 1825. Discover how these events made the city a melting pot of architectural styles where Spanish and Portuguese-style buildings coexist.  Walk down cobbled streets and enjoy the unique landscape with spectacular views of the Rio de la Plata. Experience the charming houses, cobbled streets, traditional lanterns, and magical sunsets of El Porton de Campo alongside the Street of Sighs and Faro. If you choose the option that includes the walking tour, your guide will be waiting for you at the ferry station, ready to tell you all about the history of this incredible town. Return to Buenos Aires via the same ferry route at the end of your day trip.

What people are saying about Colonia Department

We bought ferry tickets across to Colonia for a day trip. I bought the tickets online through Get your Guide. The tickets were cheaper with Get your guide than at the port. We didn’t need to print anything out, just turn up at the port with our reservation number (sent by colonia express) and passports. It was a very efficient process, we didn’t have to queue to check in we could just print out tickets from the auto check in with our reservation number.

Cheaper than buying it from the website & everything worked out fine! You don’t need to be there 2 hours before. 1 or 1.5 is plenty.

Excellent attention from the crew and customs personnel, it is highly recommended to travel to Colonia express, impeccable trip

Perfect day out. Colonia de Segramentio is spectacular, peaceful and absolutely beautiful

Easy day trip from Buenos Aires. We used our Argentina money there without any problems.
