Full description
Spend your day getting close to nature on a fully-guided tour to Kaikoura from Christchurch. After pick-up from your Christchurch hotel, travel by road through the rural pastoral scenes of North Canterbury and the wine growing region of Waipara. Arrive in Kaikoura where mountains meet the sea and take in the tranquility of the area.   Transfer to a whale watching vessel for an exciting up-close encounter in an area world renowned for its variety of marine mammals. Keep a lookout for the world's largest toothed predator, the Giant Sperm Whale. Marvel at acrobatic Dusky Dolphins and a great variety of marine birdlife. After your whale watching experience, you have time to enjoy lunch; you can upgrade when booking to include a tasty and filling cafe lunch or alternatively bring your own. After lunch, visit a Fur Seal colony on the rocky shores surrounding Kaikoura and see these adorable creatures frolic in the water. On the return journey to Christchurch, stop at a North Canterbury vineyard and sample local wines, a great way to end a fantastic day on the water (if time permits).

We got an awesome and friendly driver, our guide, Scott, for informative commentary on the way to whale watching activity. Great thanks to Scott for takiing there. Also there was a professional, informative, helpful and friendly team on board. The team tried their best to help tracing the whales and eventually the world’s largest whales, Blue Whales were viewed. Great thanks to the team for making our trip fantastic and unforgettable!

Everything worked without problems, we were picked up directly from the hotel. The driver was very personable and told us a lot about the area. In Kaikoura he took care of the tickets and brought us on the boat and picked us up there. In the small shop where you can buy the tickets, there are also tablets for seasickness. You can use it well because the boat is really fast over the waves and you are really shaken. We saw 2 sperm whales in the 2 hours and watched them dive, it was a really unique experience.
