From Marrakech: Essaouira Private Full-Day Trip

1. From Marrakech: Essaouira Private Full-Day Trip

Take a full-day private trip to Essaouira, one of Morocco’s most attractive coastal towns. Admire its undeniable charm, with whitewashed and blue shuttered houses, art galleries, wood workshops, fishermen and colorful boats, all enclosed by ancient red walls. Your private tour starts with pickup at your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Depart Marrakech, driving through lush valleys filled with orange groves, ancient olive trees, and working farms. Stop at Chichaoua for a coffee or snack at Cafe Afoulki. Continue past your first Argan trees. These special trees are valued for their nutritive, cosmetic, and medicinal properties. A relic species from the Tertiary Period, it is extremely well adapted to drought and other environmentally difficult conditions of southwestern Morocco and, while now endangered, under the protection of UNESCO. Arrive in Essaouira and wander the ancient streets, where it’s easy to imagine life before you. The streets have a Portuguese feel after they renamed the city in the 16th century and used it as a port city of their own. Dine on fish straight from the sea at any number of local restaurants, and ride a camel on the beach. After some free time to explore on your own, return to Marrakech for drop-off at your hotel or riad.

Marrakech: Guided Day Trip to Essaouira

2. Marrakech: Guided Day Trip to Essaouira

Your full-day adventure to old Mogador from Marrakech begins when you’re picked up from your hotel to drive along the gorgeous Haouz plains towards the quaint village of Chichaoua. Here you’ll make your first stop of the day, enjoying a cup of coffee before continuing on to Sidi Mokhtar.  Along the way, you’ll pass through a lush forest of Argan trees, where you’ll witness native goats in their natural habitat. Here you’ll have the chance to see how Argan oil is extracted, visiting a cooperative run by a group of local women to discover how some of the world’s finest cosmetic products are made here using Argan oil. Next, you’ll head to Mogador to explore the fascinating Portuguese fortress, Sekkala, before continuing on to visit the old harbor, the meeting point for local fishermen. At the harbor, you can choose a fresh fish and fry it yourself before exploring the picturesque blue streets of old Mogador, relaxing by the beach and taking a therapeutic stroll in this unique location.

The trip with our guide Ibrahim and driver Mohammed was entertaining, Ibrahim spoke great German and showed us everything we wanted to see, the Toyota SUV was really comfortable. If you want to be looked after flexibly and personally during the excursion and are keen to learn a local's insider knowledge and to be in direct contact, this tour is perfect for you. In the future we will only book tours in the appropriate constellation. It doesn't get any better. Special praise goes to Ibrahim. He did his job perfectly, we still talk about him every day Essaouira per se was not that good for us, but that's very subjective. It was too cold, too windy and raining for us ... not good conditions for us sun-hungry North Germans

Competent, kind, patient and helpful staff. We really enjoyed it! We had a booking problem, because we had made a mistake and Mr. Ali was flawless in making up for our mistake, changing the excursion date without any problem. My mother, at the end of the excursion / day, realized that she had forgotten the phone in the car and both Mr. Ali and Youssef (the driver) were really kind and attentive bringing him back to our riad. Really excellent service. If we return to marrakesh we will definitely rely on them again.

Very friendly driver and guides. They were considerate for our sightseeing expectations. However, the car was not suitable for 3 adult visitors. It would have been perfect for 4 people but not 5 inside. We had booked for 3 people and we were welcomed by a driver and a guide who therefore occupied the two front seats of the vehicle. Which left us with the 3 rear seats of the vehicle except that the middle seat was not a real seat. And driving 6 hours in these conditions in one day is not very comfortable.

The tour was very nice, our driver Rafa was very kind, friendly and very well prepared in telling us and describing the places along the way. Essaouira, even if it is about 3 hours away by car, is definitely worth a visit, even if only to see a Moroccan city so different from Marrakech. The local guide Hassan was very good in describing the history, facts, political and religious events that led this city to be so famous and interesting. Very pleasant day, good at all!

Interesting experience

To understand a country, such a tour is of course only recommended. The German speaking guide gave us a very clear understanding of the culture. If you just want to see the beautiful world, the cheap tours with the big bus are definitely recommended. If you're looking for something special, you've come to the right place ...
