What people are saying about Chania

I had dislocated my toe earlier that week, simply walking was a bit of a struggle. But my fiancé really wanted to go on this hike, so I took some painkillers and agreed. And it was manageable, after a few rest stops even quite enjoyable. The beginning of the trail is a steep downhill climb through a rocky trail. Basically all you can see for the first 1,5 - 2h is what’s under your feet. With my injured toe I was very tense for the first part. But after reaching Samaria village the trail got easier, and the views were spectacular. The guide was simply amazing, transportation was straightforward and comfortable. I suggest you take this hike on your last days in Crete, cause it has been two days and my leg muscles are still letting me know what they have been through.

They pick you up only if you’re in a place easy to reach for them, like a well known hotel, we’ve stayed close to the old town and had to walk 20’. Not a big deal but they shouldn’t advertise free pickups. Other than that, Vasilis, the guide was great and funny. The hike is kind of easy, and beautiful, we’ve done it in approx 4h without rushing it. After that you have to wait till 5:30 to catch the ferry, but there’re plenty of restaurants to chill at. All in all, a very good experience and well worth the price
