3. From Reims: 2-Day Romantic Trip to Champagne
Take a romantic trip exploring the rolling hills, grapevines, and French fizz of Champagne. Visit the best champagne houses and UNESCO World Heritage sites of Epernay with a private guide.
For 2 whole days, indulge yourself and your partner with lots of Champagne, fine dining, charming wine cellars, and interesting people. Also, sleep like royalty in a castle.
Day 1:
Start the trip with a pickup from your Reims or Epernay hotel, or Reims Station. First, be led by your guide to Pommery Champagne in Reims, a grand house of Champagne with castle-like premises. Go deep in their impressive cellars to discover aging bottles and try their namesake Champagne.
Next up, be spoilt for choice at the Veuve Clicquot Champagne House. Taste their Champagne and have a look at the boutique stocked with branded products. Move on to a Michelin Star restaurant to enjoy a romantic lunch for 2.
After lunch, be driven across the vineyards of Champagne to Epernay, the capital of Champagne. Enjoy the picture-postcard town and its glorious grapevine surroundings. See UNESCO classified landscapes.
Visit 2 more opulent Maisons de Champagne in Epernay, including the fine wineries of Moët & Chandon, and Mercier and De Castellane. See a historical cellar in one and go tasting and shopping in the other.
Treat yourself to a romantic evening. Share another glass of Champagne before going to a lovely castle built in 1795, located in a Champagne village. Relax in the spa with a jacuzzi and sauna. Have dinner in a restaurant overlooking the garden and fountain. Spend the night in this historical place.
Day 2:
Start your morning with a hearty French breakfast at the hotel. Spend the rest of your day discovering the rare handcrafters of Champagne.
Meet a local winemaker to learn about the process of champagne production. Let experts share their first-hand knowledge with you. Taste a variety of champagnes from Brut, Rosé, Blanc de Blanc to Vintage.
Feast on a French lunch in a restaurant or, if the weather permits, in the Champagne vineyards as a picnic. All the food is homemade with local produce.
Then, hop on a convertible car to be driven across the vineyards and landscapes of Champagne. Settle in for another champagne tasting session to unwind. Visit a small producer of champagne, totally different from the first, for a great tasting.
Finish the day in a romantic setting to take photos against a beautiful backdrop. Be driven back to Reims station with a lot of Champagne memories.
