Wine and Food Tasting in Rome

5. Wine and Food Tasting in Rome

Come and join this typical Italian experience in an Enoteca. The tasting is offered in a traditional wine bar, called Enoteca, located in the 18th-century Palazzo, in the heart of Rome. It is a family run wine bar that started as a wine-shop over fifty years ago and was transformed into its present state by the third generation. The wine bar shelves are lined with carefully selected bottles produced by prestigious and new wineries. An inviting selection of regional delicacies and a choice of hot homemade dishes complement the wine. You will learn how to drink and taste the wine as well as distinguish the differences between colors and aromas. An introduction about the area where the wines are produced will also be given in English. Examples of some perfect parings between food and wine: Try a glass of Bellone, a forgotten antique local white grape variety paired with chicken meatballs or omelette with wild herbs. Or taste a glass of Cesanese, the red wine associated with Rome from the vineyards visible from the periphery of the city paired with Roman supplì. You can also enjoy a glass of Prosecco Millesimato, a superior variety of the sparkling wine, combined with delicious home made chicken sticks. These pairings are only examples of the quality of the products, and can be changed with seasonal food.

What people are saying about Centro Storico

It was a fun and relaxing atmosphere and the people on the tour were fun and engaging. Time split evenly between Rome and Trastevere restaurants. We visited eight locations and actually enjoyed all of the food/wine provided. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable on the dishes they we were being provided. A range of “sit down” to “take out” locations all quite unique with a nice local flavor.
