First of all you'll be picked up from your hotel in Dambulla, Sigiriya or Habarana and driven to Polonnaruwa, before arriving at Polonnaruwa ancient city to discover the ruins. Polonnaruwa is the ancient heart of Sri Lanka, and an important royal capital with its well-preserved 12th century ruins and impressive stone culture. Although nearly 1,000 years old, it is much younger than Anuradhapura - Sri Lanka's first capital - and generally in better repair. The monuments are arranged in a reasonably compact garden setting and their development is easier to follow. Afterwards, you will arrive to a local restaurant for lunch, before exploring the wondrous Rock Fortress of Sigirya. This place is famous for its toadstool of golden-hued granite, protruding into the searing blue sky from a hot, flat wilderness of scrubland, which is transformed in the rainy season to a water garden. In the 5th century, King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions Rock, by building a palace atop its summit. Sigiriya commemorates some of the turbulence of Sri Lanka’s history. Thereafter, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Dambulla/Sigiriya/Habarana .

What people are saying about Central Province, Sri Lanka

Would've been 100% amazing without the extra stops

The journey was very long as expected. The negative points of it is that the driver kept stopping in different places for us to see (he must have deals with these places) such as spice garden which was nice but they want tips and some gems store... which I didnt want to stop nor buy gems but he insisted and people were pushing us to buy. and if you dont buy or give them little tips they dont like it and treat you differently on the way out. I am certain tha the driver gets his cut from it, but surely they should ask the customer first if they want any stop to meet places or not. because of these stops (total of 3) we spent almost 20 hours out and got home so late and knackered. Sigiriya on the other hand is an amazing place! Like no words to describe how amazing it is. But again, the tour guide that is included in the package wanted tips as well and not in their currency, but in £ or $. Also water was included but was given only ONE bottle for the whole day and had to pay drinks

it's overcharged for the country. Driver very good.

The driver came to pick me up. Very pleasant driving, a beautiful country to discover. The people are welcoming but the intermediary costs us way too much.

It was excellent arrangement for my vocation. And my expectation was met.
