Full description

After pickup from the designated meeting point, drive to Mount Etna to begin your tour. As you ascend to a height of 2,000 meters, your professional guide will tell you about the history of the volcano and explain its unique nature to you.

Walk on paths away from the tourist areas to take in the flora and fauna away from the crowds.  Different aspects of the volcano will be highlighted, such as its nature and resources, its amazing landscapes, and the huge lava flows that have destroyed buildings and roads.

You will be taken to a viewpoint to see the panoramic view of the Valle del Bove, the most important valley on the east slope of the volcano. Visit an area of ancient explosive activities, Hornitos, a semi-cave and a state refuge. Learn about its origin and the features inside from your guide.

You’ll also have the chance to sample the wines, liqueurs, and honeys from this area. At the end of your tour, you’ll be dropped back at your accommodation in Catania.

The tour was a really nice experience. We didn't have much time and wanted to get an impression of Mount Etna quickly. Therefore, the possibility of pre-booking such a 6-hour tour and getting a quick outward journey from Catania and return by jeep was good. The many explanations and tips provided by the guide were interesting and instructive. We also thought it was nice to do the tour with people from other countries in the car. In the valley station, however, the free time was too short. We would have liked to have walked around too. Since we were back in Catania at the place of our choice at 1.30 p.m., i.e. after 5 hours, we could have spent a good hour more at the valley station in order to make full use of the full announced time of 6 hours..

We enjoyed being guided by Ragi (uncertain spelling) who had a very good command of French. The tour starts well at 8:30am ends around 1:30pm. We will see different points of interest of Etna: lava flows, lateral craters. Climb up to 2000m. Perfect for a family with a toddler. Thanks to Ragi for his stories and his welcome.

The meeting point started at 8:30 a.m. sharp. There are 5 of us. Incl. Guide driven by jeep towards Etna. Made several stops for photos along the way, which also had small stalls. At 2000m we hiked through a small crater and on the way back we stopped at a small village where you could taste and buy honey, oil and wine. All in all a very nice, fun and informative tour in English. And we ended up being back an hour earlier, which left plenty of time for other things in the afternoon. :)
