This is a 1-day excursion by bus from Taormina to Mount Etna. The highest volcano in Europe (10,922 feet high), its smoking peak can be seen throughout Sicily with seismic activity constantly changing its shape. There are 4 distinct craters at the summit area and more than 300 vents on the flanks, ranging in size from small holes to large craters. The whole experience was just excellent! They came to pick (four of) us up in Augusta, which is 40+ kilometers from Catania to the south. They already earned a big plus with that, so we did not really mind that they arrived a bit late - and we were on holidays after all. And then Teresa showed up with her positive energy and attitude that stayed with us for the whole day! She explained a lot of things about Etna, life on Sicily, its history! Wine and lunch? Bunch of incredible appetizers and five wines - perfect; at the end we were all full! Perhaps a small minus was the van, as it was not really in the best shape - but on the other side, it gave us the real experience of Sicily, where people also drive a bit differently. :) - Would I repeat it? Definitely!

As Napa regulars we have been on many wine tours but this far exceeds what we have come to expect from tours. Each stop along the tour was a world class setting with excellent food and equally excellent wines. The service was great and the driver was very punctual, courteous, and informative as well. It was a well thought out way to get a rich taste of Etnas wines and I would recommend to both beginners and wine experts alike!

This was a great tour. Our guide, Max, was really helpful and informative about the volcano and the views from the top were incredible. It is not an easy hike if you’re a bit out of shape (like me) - it’s not too steep but the loose lava gravel underfoot makes it feel like climbing through sand at times. It’s well worth the effort though!

Visit and taste without moderation. Our guide Anna was perfect, she shared with us her love of Sicily and Catania. We were only there two days, this getaway made us enjoy it as much as possible. We come back conquered. Thanks Anna

Marco was our guide and was nothing short of amazing! Pickup was on time and he even brought us fruit from his garden. The wineries were all beautiful. Overall a great experience, I would recommend!
