Full description
Board the boat at Vieux-Port, in front of Marseille’s city hall. Enjoy fruit juice and coffee served by the crew. Then set sail for the Bay of Marseille. Hear about the area's history and local culture from the crew on board. Anchor near a rocky inlet called a calanque, and go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. Around midday break for an aperitif, and an exquisite lunch buffet made from organic, seasonal local produce. Enjoy two glasses of rosé with your meal. After lunch, continue to the Riou Archipelago and stop at a second scenic spot to swim and take in the scenery. You will then start heading back to the Vieux-Port. If you are interested, the friendly crew will be happy to give you an introduction to sailing.

It was a smallish sailboat. We set for sail to the Calanques, but could not go into the park area because of the water conditions. We turned around and went to an inlet instead, where we ate lunch, swam, listened to music, and enjoyed. We experienced a heavy rainfall during the trip, which the captain was very transparent saying that had he known about the rainfall, he would have cancelled the trip and he negotiated with the company to give people who were unhappy a refund. We didn't take the refund because the captain and his crew worked so hard all day to keep us happy and entertained, and they deserve to get paid!

A great experience for a day in the water. The crew are friendly and professional, and the journey around Marseilles and Les Callanques is beautiful. The ship has a golden age quality being built in 1949 and is one of only three in the area and just two in active commission. The 10 am to 4 pm day is just enough and the lunch was of a very good quality. Travel is by engine for most of the way with some proper sailing on the return leg. There is a lot of time for swimming and snorkelling in the sea. I would heartily recommend the sailing excursion to anyone staying in Marseilles. However if you suffer from seasickness, as with one of our party, you should be advised it is a long time to be afloat and perhaps consider a shorter journey would be more advised.

BOOK IT NOW! This experience was a highlight of our trip! The boat is beautiful, classic look at 70 years old in PERFECT condition. We used the motor for some of the trip, but got to sail for some, they even let us help pull the ropes to get the sails up which was cool. They bring you to the first swim/snorkel spot and prepare a refreshing and delicious lunch for after the first swim. They take you to the next swim/snorkel spot and then provide a tasty dessert after. They were amazing hosts, very nice, and really do love what they do. There is a ladder you can go up/down to get in & out of the water, but they let you jump off the boat into the water which was really fun. They also put a paddle board in the water so you could sit on that if you need a break. Highly recommend, such a great experience! The boat departs from & arrives back in Old Port which is a lovely area with lots of restaurants & a little shopping market. We were out from 10-16:30ish. So much fun!
