On this tour, you are given the opportunity to swim with the wild Bottlenose Dolphins in their own environment. Accompanied by an experienced guide and trained volunteers you will venture into the open waters of Koombana Bay. Depending on dolphin sightings you will be guided into the water where the dolphins may elect to initiate interaction with the swimmers. As they are wild dolphins, interaction cannot be guaranteed.

Take an exciting Dolphin Eco Cruise for 90 minutes at the Discovery Centre. The vessel provides an excellent viewing platform designed to get you as close as possible to the dolphins, without getting your feet wet. The team will introduce you to the local Bottlenose Dolphins as they interact in their natural environment. Many of the dolphins seen on the cruise call Koombana Bay their home. They can be seen frolicking, playing, sleeping, and feeding during the cruise. The informative commentary from the skipper will keep you updated throughout.

Meander through backroads to taste outstanding wines from wineries of the Mt Barker sub-region of the Great Southern appellation; known for its Rieslings. This region has a characteristically cool climate with slow ripening times which allows for the development of rich flavors and quality grape juice. Wine tasting begins at Gilbert Wines, home to the ‘lads’ and where a morning coffee might be preferred. At Plantagenet wines, you are taken to the tasting bench to choose your wine and make your purchase to accompany a scrumptious shared platter lunch of local produce. Then it's on to Galafrey Wines, another family-owned winery and home to prominent female wine-maker Kim Tyrer. From there head to West Cape Howe where you can sample wine from their extensive range, olive oil, or their own brand of coffee. Begin day one by making a scenic drive from Perth to the charming seaside towns. First stop is Mandurah, where you’ll have a chance to stretch your legs or grab a coffee by the foreshore (at own expense). Then it’s on to Bunbury where you’ll visit the Featured Wood Gallery, before continuing onto Busselton, where you'll stop for lunch. Following lunch, take a leisurely walk along the famous Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere stretching 1.1 miles (1.8 km) out into the picturesque Geographe Bay. From the jetty we continue south towards Margaret River and everyone’s favourite, the Margaret River Chocolate Company. Next, head to the McLeod family farm to see their horses & Western Grey Kangaroos in their natural environment. After a full day touring settle into your accommodation for the evening. (evening meal at own expense) On day 2, Enjoy breakfast at The White Elephant café by the beach. The tour goes underground at the spectacular Mammoth Cave, one of just a few caves in the south west which contains fossils of Megafauna. A scenic drive through the majestic Boranup Forest will leave you in awe of the beautiful Karri trees. Discover the different flavours of Jarrah, Karri & Marri honey in the forest. Then pass through Augusta, before arriving at the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. Take a guided tour and spot the point where the Southern and Indian oceans meet. You may be lucky enough to spot whales out in the distance.  Stop for lunch and at the Colour Patch restaurant with stunning views of the Blackwood River. On our return trip, enjoy wine tasting at an award-winning winery. You’ll then have some free time in town to stroll along the main street and pick up a special memento or gift to take home. Return to your accommodation at around 5:00 PM to relax after a busy day and dine at your leisure. (evening meal at own expense) After breakfast on day 3, visit Yahava Koffee Works and indulge in a tasting while hearing from the experts. The tour then visits two boutique vineyards showcasing Margaret River's renowned wines. At the second winery we enjoy cheese & crackers to a-company the wine tasting. All that wine tasting can build up an appetite, we sit down for a gourmet lunch at local favourite Olio Bello. Whilst here for lunch, its a great opportunity to sample their extensive range of extra virgin olive oils, balsamic's, relishes and produce. After lunch, we depart for Perth, usually arriving by approximately  6:00PM.

5. From Perth: 2-Day Margaret River Getaway

Day 1 Perth – Margaret River The leisurely drive south takes you past places like Mandurah and Bunbury. In Busselton we visit the longest longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere. The region around Margaret River, one of the most famous and best wine growing areas in Australia, welcomes us with its Mediterranean climate and relaxed atmosphere. Here we have the opportunity for a delicious wine tasting followed by lunch at a renowned winery. To get an impression of the sparkling Australian number one water sport, surfing, we visit popular Prevelly Beach. Day 2 Margaret River – Perth The scenic “Caves Road” takes us through Boranup Forest’s pale-barked Karri Trees to Cape Leeuwin, Australia’s most south-westerly point. This is the point where the Indian and Southern Ocean meet. The Cape is known for its rough westerly winds – called “roaring forties” by the locals – during the colder winter months. This is the point where the Indian and Southern Ocean meet. From here the nearest landmass is Africa to the west and Antarctica to the south. After a visit to the picturesque Hamelin Bay, drive to Yallingup, the northern end of the Cape to Cape region. We enter the cool but interesting atmosphere of the Ngilgi Cave with its countless limestone formations. Pleasant return journey to Perth.

The trip was on time and we saw quite a number of dolphins. The boat captain/guide knew the dolphin area well and where to find them and was very informative with his commentry. I also enjoed watching his interaction with a very young child and the child's mother. All in all it was a very enjoyable outing.
